 Home prices in mainland China fell for the first time in six years. The National Bureau of Statistics reported Wednesday that new home prices in 70 cities slid 0.08% in September from August, the first drop since April 2015. Among China's 70 major cities, just 27 saw new home prices rise m/m in September, compared to 46 cities in August.

A US$2.6bn deal to take a stake in China Evergrande’s property services unit has collapsed. Real estate firm Hopson Development was set to buy a 51% stake in Evergrande Property Services Group. Hopson said that Evergrande told it the deal had been terminated on 13 October. The parties said in separate filings to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that they were unable to agree on the terms of the deal.


Hong Kong’s pension regulator, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority, is considering relaxing the rules to allow MPF members to invest in sovereign bonds, including debt issued by the Chinese government and those of other countries.
