On Thursday’s Backchat: efforts to control the spread of the Omicron Covid-19 variant; and the prospect of another large-scale incinerator.
The World Health Organization's European director Hans Kluge has said that Omicron has moved the pandemic into a new phase and could bring it to an end in Europe.
But there are also warnings that new and potentially dangerous variants could still emerge.
In Hong Kong, lockdowns continue at Kwai Chung Estate, as many residents of the territory experience what's being described as "pandemic fatigue". A survey by the Democratic Party, found that 65 percent of respondents said it’s time for the government to study or prepare for ways of living with the virus.
After 9.15am, we’ll look into a proposal for an incinerator to be built near Tuen Mun, in addition to the facility currently under construction south of Lantau Island.
