Art in Social Movement, Artist Occupy Central

What began as a student class boycott took on a greater force on September 26th when student leader Joshua Wong was arrested after protesters climbed fences to enter the so-called “Civic Square”, a former area for protest the government had since fenced in. The response to his arrest then brought forward the date for the planned Occupy Central, after which a series of incidents only escalated the protest. Among the tens of thousands of protesters that eventually took to the streets of Admiralty, Mong Kok and Causeway Bay are some very familiar to viewers of The Works. Artists, musicians and others in the creative industry have responded to the ongoing crisis with their biggest strength: their creativity.
